NOTEBOOKS MADE TO ORDER

After enjoying making notebooks as Christmas presents, I've decided to have a bash at making them to order - as a way of raising money for a couple of my favourite charities.

I'll be doing this throughout 2015 - but if you're feeling keen to be the first, then the links for you to order your personalised notebook are below.

How much do they cost, and how much goes to charity?

£15. I'm asking people to make two separate payments - a donation to charity of £10, and a costs payment to me of £5.

Will you post the notebooks?

Yes - you can include a postage fee (£2) when making the costs payment on Paypal, and sit back and look forward to your notebook landing on your doormat. Let me know if you're local to Bedford and we can sort out a convenient way to get your notebook to you and avoid postage costs altogether.

What will my notebook look like?

Some of you might spot a design I've already done that you like, and you can ask me to make something similar. Or, you might have something completely different in mind. I want to make notebooks that are truly personal and to your taste - this means you can have input into fabrics, trims, words used, and, no one else will have one the same as you.

Which charities are you supporting?

I'm splitting the money between WaterAid and The Salvation Army. About six months ago, whilst watching a film on TV with my daughters, an advert for WaterAid came on. Explaining why children as little as them were carrying heavy looking containers of water bought home to me (and them) how comfortable our lives are. In a similar way, I want to support The Salvation Army because of the help they provide to homeless people living in this country. This sewn notebook project, done bit by bit throughout 2015, is hopefully going to make a difference - and, demonstrate to my daughters that small things individuals do can help to make a difference to the lives of people they hear about on TV.

I sew, and am unlikely to want to buy a notebook. How else can I help?

I'd love to reduce my costs a bit more, so that a bigger chunk of the £15 goes straight to the charities mentioned above. If you have one little scrap of a favourite or unusual fabric or piece of you would be willing to send in an envelope to be used for notebook making, please get in touch.

Is there a Twitter hashtag for this?

Er, YES! #NotJustAnotherNotebook. Once I start receiving orders and (maybe) scraps, I will pop pictures up on Twitter.

I'd like a notebook. How do I get one?

1. Donate to charity here (minimum of £10 please) and pay a separate costs/postage fee to me using the Paypal button at the bottom of this post.

2. Tell me your design requests - either leave an open comment when you donate on Virgin Money Giving, or email me directly. I can't promise the world (I'm allowing an average of an hour per make), but I will do my best to make you something as close to what you are after as my sewing machine makes possible, and, that the notebook you receive will be lovingly made just for you.
3. Wait. I'll make your notebook as speedily as possible, but this could be up to a couple of weeks - normal every day life goes on around. Let me know if you need it faster - I can usually make and dispatch orders within a week if I know they are needed quickly.
